Settings has a Notifications tab with optional email reminders. Each one is off until you turn it on — PiggySize never emails you a reminder unless you ask for it.
Before you start
- Available on every plan, Free and Pro.
- The Email Reminders card is for the account owner and spouse. Child accounts see the Notifications tab, but only the Marketing Emails card on it.
Steps
- Go to Settings › Notifications (opens in a new tab).
- Turn on any combination of the switches:
- Bill Due Reminders — an email the day before each of your bills is due.
- Payday Reminder — the day before you get paid, a nudge to pay yourself first (a little to savings, an extra debt payment, or a goal). Only sent when you have a recurring income source paying out.
- Quarterly Estimated Tax — if you have self-employment or 1099 income, a reminder about a week and again a day before each quarterly IRS deadline (April 15, June 15, September 15, January 15) with a rough amount to set aside. It's an estimate to verify, not tax advice — always confirm the real number before you pay. Only sent when you have income that owes estimated tax.
- Monthly Check-In — one email on the 1st of the month, nudging you to update your asset and debt balances and add or remove any bills that changed.
- Monthly Goal Progress — one email on the 1st of the month summarizing how each of your goals is tracking (progress, pace, and what's left). Only sent if you have active goals.
- Annual Checkup (each January) — one email on January 2nd, timed to when IRS contribution limits and tax brackets refresh each year.
- Weekly What's New Digest — a short email every Friday listing the updates shipped that week on the What's New page. Quiet weeks with no updates get no email.
- New Blog Posts — an email each time a new post is published on the PiggySize blog. Sent when the post goes live, not on a schedule.
- Each switch saves immediately — there's no separate save button.
Good to know
- Every reminder is opt-in and off by default. Turning one on only affects that one reminder; the others stay however you left them.
- Reminders follow your timezone. Your account stores a timezone, so "the day before" on the bill and payday reminders means the day before in your local time. It's detected from your browser automatically; if it can't be worked out you're asked to pick one once. You can change it any time under Timezone in Settings (opens in a new tab) › Application Settings, and security emails show their timestamps in it too.
- Every reminder email has a preferences link at the bottom. It opens a page where you turn off just that reminder (and can turn off others) without logging in — but it only takes effect when you click the button, so an email app that quietly scans links can't unsubscribe you by accident.
- You may see a one-time prompt after creating a goal or adding a bill, or while reading a post on the blog, offering to turn on the matching reminder. It's optional — "Not now" dismisses it, and it never nags.
- Marketing email is a separate switch. The Marketing Emails card below this one controls product news and offers, and it has nothing to do with these reminders — see Turn marketing emails on or off.
- Reminders don't replace required account email. Sign-up verification, password resets, billing receipts, and family invitations are sent regardless of these settings.
- PiggySize sends no push notifications of any kind — reminders are the only opt-in email nudges the app offers.
FAQ
Does PiggySize email me a reminder unless I ask for it?
No. Every reminder in the Email Reminders card is off by default. PiggySize never sends a reminder email unless you turn one on yourself. Marketing email is a separate switch on the same page.
How do I stop a reminder once it's on?
Turn the switch off in Settings › Notifications, or use the preferences link at the bottom of any reminder email. That link opens a page where you confirm which reminder to turn off (and can turn off others too) — nothing changes until you click the button, so an email app that scans links can't unsubscribe you by accident.
Can a child account turn on reminders?
No. Child accounts see the Notifications tab, but only the Marketing Emails card on it — reminders are for the account owner and spouse.
Do these replace account emails like password resets or receipts?
No. Reminders are separate from transactional email (sign-up verification, password resets, billing receipts, invites), which PiggySize always sends regardless of these settings.
